With another anniversary of 9/11 coming up, right now is an opportune time to take action to remember our fallen. The 9-11 Patch Project is a great way to do it. In addition to the 343 FDNY members we lost that day, many more have since died as a result of 9/11-related illnesses, and many continue to suffer as I write this.
If you’re not yet familiar with the 9-11 Patch project, it’s understandable. Since its inception, the push to get the word out has been primarily through grass roots efforts within our community. The response from those who “get” it has been, and continues to be, amazing. The outpouring of generosity from individuals and organizations alike has been nothing short of inspirational, as has the determination by the project’s founder, FF/PM Brett Hill. We are honored to have “Patched up” some brothers and sisters ourselves. Believe me, it feels really good to be a part of this and to honor our fallen by means of our FDNY brothers and sisters currently representing.
There were 75 FDNY firehouses that lost a member that day. Every department member lost a brother or sister. House by house, the generous donors to the project have been able to provide patches like the one you see here to go on the bunker gear in honor of those we lost. If you (and maybe a few people you know who want to make a difference) can sponsor a house by this Tuesday, the patches will arrive at the house you select by 9/11/2015. VERY cool. Which house are YOU going to hook up? Please see below and please make a difference! Thanks and stay safe…

Your contact info goes in the letter and the FDNY members will all know who sent the patches. All sponsorships are due to be mailed by September 8th so that they arrive in all firehouses by September 11th, 2015.
